I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of creating oneself – the idea that you’re not born into who you’re “supposed” to be, but you grow, learn, and create your future existence by choosing your deciding factors in the present moment. I think that the expectations we are held to – societally speaking, is just absolutely insane. The narrative of a “perfect life” is just complete bullshit. Because ultimately my definition of a “perfect life” could be the complete opposite of your definition and that’s why no one’s opinion actually matters. There’s this idea that we have to market ourselves and our lives so that other people validate and approve of the way that we’re living/existing… as if we don’t have the power to validate ourselves and our own lives. All I’m saying is that you have the ability to be whoever you want to be, but my word of advice is to be authentic in your choice.
There is no need for you to change yourself into someone else so that you appeal to other people more. To be loved, adored, cared for – who doesn’t want that? But creating yourself into something you aren’t personally connected with or motivated by means that you are not living or yourself, but rather for the approval of other people. You’re learning about yourself while simultaneously creating yourself and that is a lot of work. Ride the wave, walk the path, don’t forget to be present in the moment. Your journey is yours to make and there is no rush. There is no competition. Piece together the person you want to be and realize that only you have the power and control to create the life that you desire.
Regardless if we’re talking mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually – you have to be the one that decides how you’re going to live your life and figure out what you’re living your life for. Romanticize your life because your story is unique to you and you are the main character. The smallest things really can have the biggest impact. So if you’re the author of your own story, how does your story play out?
